Is a Naturopathic Physician the same as a Homeopathic Physician?

Naturopathic doctors are trained to diagnose and treat conditions using several different types of modalities. Treatments may include, but are not limited to: Homeopathy, Botanical Medicine, Nutritional Counselling, Nutrient Therapies as well as Prescription Medications if necessary. A Homeopathic Physician will typically treat exclusively with Homeopathic remedies.

What should I expect from my first visit with a Naturopathic Physician?

The goal of the first visit is to hear your story and establish a clear path forward to address your concerns. Practically, I will do a thorough health history, ask about your current complaints, perform relevant physical exams and develop a personalized treatment plan. I will ask you a number of questions to learn about your concerns and listen deeply to what you are sharing.

Will a Naturopathic Physician work with my other medical providers?

Yes, as a primary care provider I am happy to work in a team approach with your established medical practitioners. I also refer to other types of health professionals when another modality may be needed to assist in your whole person health care .

Are appointments with a naturopathic doctor covered by my insurance provider?

Yes! Consultations with Naturopathic Doctors are covered by extended health insurance typically between 80-100% of the fee cost. Direct Billing is integrated into the Jane booking system. Contact Sha-la at admin@circleintegrative.com to set up Direct Billing or with any questions. Occasionally, lab tests are covered. Rarely, supplements prescribed by a naturopathic doctor are covered by health insurance.

What kinds of conditions can a Naturopathic Physician treat?

Naturopathic Doctors are primary-care physicians who can assess and treat most non-emergency health concern(s) that you may have. If it is not a good fit with my skill set I’ll be happy to refer you to a colleague or another type of practitioner to access the care that is appropriate.
